Perspective is a wonderful thing.
Life, is okay. I’ve got a job that – while it doesn’t pay ALL the bills it provides enough for the family with the husband’s badge/paycheck. Artistically we get enough stuff to do to be fulfilledish….Could things be better, sure. Could they be worse – yup.
When your perspective adjusts it makes you think.
Imagine you’re a first time astronaut. And you are one of the lucky few that get to see the earth from space. That perspective, of us being just this speck in a much larger universe…makes you think more carefully when you’re back on the ground. There’s a name for that spaceman viewpoint but I’m not recalling it.
If you think you’re very certain about what a politician is telling you, play with the perception if you can. Stop and think about how opinions change if the perception skews one way or another. Quit letting them play with you–it’s an easy thing to do. I find myself manipulated almost daily. Then I have to stop and think.
I’m lucky I have a very educated support network in my life. I have a wise dad that, even though he began life in a small Ozark town and could’ve been a one trick conservative pony marching for Trump etc. He spent years working as a bureaucrat, living in lots of places and meeting lots of different types of people. It opens up perspective.
He reminds me to look at both sides. If I read about something on CNN.com find the same story on Fox news and see how they handle things differently.
It’s all a matter of the viewpoint. Todays world it’s a matter of the viewpoint of the audience you hope will like, share, tweet, truth, etc etc etc. Whoever pays the bills.
After all, if it weren’t for the texts that the Dominion discovery brought to light we’d never know how those fox hosts really felt about the MAGA GOP set. Does that mean I have to like them…no. But it’s another perspective to keep in mind.
