I watched my mother research our family tree as I grew up, every scrap of paper and record was important to document and record. She’d track everything from grave sites to hobbies to diary entries etc etc. On my walls are oil paintings and other art done by great great something or the others.
The world is a little different now, when everything can be recorded and transmitted. The trick doesn’t seem to be to find the rare bits of history that relate to you but to syphon out the copious amounts of excess information that gets streamed and shown to us on a daily basis. The search is different, but still everpresent.
So what is our responsibility if we want to be sure we leave a record for the future. Do we start a vlog on youtube, get very proficient on social media? What is the solution to be sure modern day geneologists have a path in which to search us out for future generations?
I used to be decent at video editing in school, maybe I’ll try to relearn and give this youtube thing a shot…the difficult part for me will be how much to discuss. My husband is a municipal police chief so online might affect him.
Food for thought…
